Kina/ China. Pingyao ancient town.

Pingyao Ancient Town is located in Shanxi Province, China. It’s on the small route of three regions next to each other som hours west of Beijing that are rarely visited.

It is a well-preserved walled city dating back to the Western Zhou Dynasty (11th century BCE).

It flourished during the Ming and Qing dynasties and became a major financial center, home to China’s first banks.

Its intact city walls, traditional architecture, and layout reflect ancient Chinese urban planning and society.

It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding preservation of Han Chinese culture and history.

It is a place that is both very touristy and filled with shops with antiques, lacquered boxes, vinegar and spirits, juices of ‘havtorn’, ice cream, food, fridge magnets … and Chinese travelers. Chinese travelers talk about traveling in China and abroad … being every else 😉 It’s also as complicated for Chinese with ‘everywhere else’ as then WeChat and Alipay won’t cover all your needs.

That there are also a few westerners once in a while is shown as I find coffee. ☕️ Mostly the hopeless Chinese ones – cold, with jasmine or even cheese or readily mixed with orange juice… we wish both anyway right, so why not mix … it’s not good 😌 mostly fun to try once.

Vinegar- as medicine

A speciality in this place and region and in China. It’s a dark and thick as French Balsamic Vinegar. Even more so. Weirdly enough, I like it.

The shop keepers are playing cards and entertaining themselves until UG
