International Women’s Day 1994 – 20025. 31 years of adult travel life between these two milestones.
It’s International Women’s Day. March 8. I wish all women the best – as I always do.
In Denmark and in all of the Nordic countries, this is named The International Day of Women’s Fight for Equality. (Kvindernes internationale kampdag)
This fits me, my dream and purpose. How I wish the world to be – more equality between women and men. More freedom for women to work, make decisions, take responsibility for their lives and those of their children, and to dream big and travel the world in their own right – even to every country, and to bring their kids along.
March 8, 1994, I celebrated in Perm in the Ural mountains in Russia. The trip was part of my bachelors. We enjoying a show in the evening with the Siberian version of Julio Inglesias. He sang about love, passion and pain. The musicians placed the same rythm the entire time while the dancing ladies in colorful costumes seemed to both die and twirl in all speeds possible regardless. TV had been on with family show with dance and song, while commercials were on lipstick and washing powder.
These two 8/3 are milestones in 31 years of adult travel life for me.
There truly are women and compassion and adventure in every country.
So today I am blessed to travel with Lærke in China and being surrounded by women.
We are in Pingyao in Shanxi. A really well preserved ancient city. A UNESCO World Heritage Site. And a place where Chinese love to spend the day learning of their heritage and to celebrate it and have fun by dressing up in national costumes. We met lots of people. Lærke makes interactions so much more possible as she speaks Chinese. We truly enjoy this every day.
I the coming days, I will update more on our travels in China this past and coming week.
