Bangladesh: Sundarban Mangrove Forest in South West Delta

Tiger and crocodile safari with a hike through the mangrove forest. We met monkeys and as we were on foot with an armed guide, maybe still it was ok, we did not meet a tiger in the wild. This mangrove forest / swamp was our version of getting away from the changing government and instabilitet of Bangladesh these days as the interim Government was sworn in Yesterday evening. This was of course also a central part of our original route as it is a unique nature area and even unesco world heritage.

Its outside season, but we Got there by crossing the strong current of the river on a boat where we stood up as the locals did too – a little scary but we somehow managed woth balance and concentration. The changing to a new boat to get up along the river to where three rivers cross and go up along the bigger one that is both broad, deep and with strong current. At this place it was the industrial shops for fireoghalvfems that worked. Lots were not working now due to the instabilitet as many owners supported the for er government. We got friends with the bostsman and got to the national Parc where we got our gun man guide and off we went hiking. Noone but us in the whole place … off season an officially closed plus unrest.

Whether the political situation, the rivers or the tigers / crocs and hikes were most dangerous are up for debate.
