Introduction to the Barbari family

We are in a village with the Barbari family. The family of our fixer @dhaka_tour_guide_in_bangladesh

The sweetest and most hospital family. The whole family seem as a family. The all bid us welcome. We are surrounded by the most amazing people.

We have walked from house to house to house to meet parts of the family. The two great grandmothers. They stay with each their sons one after another. The sons stay. The daughters move to the house of their husbands. Our family is mother, father and two children, our guide Milon and his younger sister. Milon and I share the same education in international relations.

When we stop for tea along the road, where five men discuss the situation, then in five minutes, we are 40 people and block the road in the best possible way. The kids being shy as we are foreigners and exotic. The mothers and I comparing number of kids. It’s positive that the number is lower in the younger generations. I also love to hear all the girls being in school and we met amazing promising students of social work, English and chemistry.

Imagine to get to get to experience all this while the country is struggling with the worst problems since independence in 1971.

To get here, we chose to leave from our former place at 04.30 in the morning. To drive here before unrest might start again yesterday morning. To us it was difficult to decide to break curfew, but it was a good decision as now we are safe and having a good time in this peaceful neighbourhood.

Thank you so much to Milon and his family – we recommend him as your guide anytime !
